Best 'Universal' Remote

Your recommendation please for a 'Universal' Remote Control. I've used
a
OFA Topline 8 for the last 2 years, but its now in need of replacement.
Richer Sounds stock a 'Mosaic' (OFA) and 'Pronto' (Phillips?). Are
these
any good?
I've had both. I love the Pronto - the Mosaic was so full of glitches as
to
make it un-usable.
My findings exactly - the final nail in the coffin for the Mosaic was
running out of Learn memory (again!) when adding a DVD Recorder. Seeing as
the only way to free up the memory is to wipe all learned codes (for all
devices) and learn them all again. As you have no real way of knowing when
you're about to run out, other than when it does (never tried counting them,
I suppose). It's not very customisable and has a number of limitations -
you really have to plan how to set it up beforehand, as certain things can't
be changed without wiping at least a whole device out and starting again.

The Pronto is pretty good (although I do baulk at £100+ quid for a remote),
it is pretty tedious to set up with ProntoEdit. www.RemoteCentral.com is
essential for FAQs, templates and codes, if you want to set up a decent
config in only one lifetime :-).

Go for the Pronto - it's more expensive, but this is repaid in far lower
frustration levels over the Mosaic.

PS Remotecentral has reviews of both, so have a read there first...

I strongly recommend the Pronto. It's not cheap but the flexibility is
amazing. I could live without it but I wouldn't want to.

I've not seen the Chameleon so I can't really say. The Cambridge looks
quite versatile but nowhere near as much as the Pronto.
www.remotecentral.com has vast amounts of Pronto-related material and
is highly recommended for those who want to see what can be done. Yes,
it's expensive: but I'm glad that the days of compromise are over.

Don't get the All for One. I din't know this until I got a very very good remote with my
Pioneer Amp..

But the infra red record/transmit is of a very sub-standard, e.g. The next/previous
function buttons, the number buttons, infact all of the buttons were adding a delay,
meaning that Sky navigation was much slower than it should be.

The All in one didn't appear to work with my Sky (I called them etc.. etc..), Had to
record individual buttons, I did the same on my Pioneer Amp and the performance was much
improved, I guess you'll get the same results on a half-decent remote control.
